So the tip is at the wrong angle or too high. After the plastic returns to its usual position, it doesn't work again. I think I know the panel you refer to (a long one with one visible crossthread/Philips screw) that is accessed if the water tank is removed (it is shown in Michael's pdf with a barcode sticker visible).
