  • ECAM350.55.B - General Alarm

Hello, I'm not a German speaker (feel free to delete the topic, or reply in German to me!), but I've used this, as well as other German forums countless times when repairing my De'Longhis and it made me know a lot about power board or just general repairs. But I've hit a massive roadblock with my Dinamica ECAM350.55.B, where the brew group parked in the lowest position and threw a "General Alarm" error. Unpçugging and replugging will make the machine try to startup (you hear the pump buzzing for a few seconds), then the brew group hits the bottom, a relay clicks, the brew group doesn't go up, and "general alarm" pops up again. Sometimes the machine does startup, but not anymore.

-Both NTCs are good, and installing two new ones gives the same error
-Lower and upper limit switches are good, upper one testing ok for continuity and lower one being detected in the split second of test mode that the machine allows me to use before throwing the error again
-There's continuity on both thermal cutoffs
-Turning the transmission away so the brew group goes away from the bottom switch, then turning the machine back on, will cause the brew group to go down again, hit the lower limit switch, and throw the general alarm again.
-The machine has less than 200 drinks over its life.

Only thing I haven't tested yet is the reed board, could it be the culprit?

Many thanks and happy coffee drinking

  • Major update:

I decided to check voltage to the motor, in this case, the two outer terminals.

I power the machine on, and sure enough, motor moves brew group out of the bottom position and the machine completed its startup procedure..

5 minutes later, back into the same limbo, I check voltage again and once again the multimeter probes somehow made the brew group move out of the bottom again.

Something tells me I have a bad motor board or bad wires going to it, but I'm not sure
  • English is okay.

Have you tried to drive the brew group up in test mode?

You should also measure the motor's resistance. Unplug it, disconnect the power cord directly at the motor, and measure there while slowly rotating the motor from click to click.

  • Starting test mode will general alarm the machine after 2 or 3 seconds and the brew group doesn't go up

If I turn the spindle to move the brew group up manually and start test mode. It goes back down and gives me a general alarm again.

Touching the multimeter probes at the motor board somehow made the motor move the brew unit back up up when the machine was sending the command to the motor

I'll try measuring the resistance later, thank you!

    Hello

With the motor stopped, this is the value (attached picture)

And here is a video of me spinning the motor with the multimeter probing it.

  • Have you tried blowing out the engine?
If that doesn't help, the motor's carbon brushes are too worn, then you'll have to replace the motor or the entire drive unit.

Will try, it'd be weird for the brushes to be worn since the machine shows a count of under 100 coffee drinks, but I will check them nonetheless, since there's always the possibility of the board having been replaced or the EEPROM erased before i got it used

    Hello Alex,

in my opinion there is too few carbon dust for worn out motor brushes.

I think there is a cracked soldering or bad contact on the filter circuit board on top of the motor.

    Greetings TeKa
I replaced the filter board with another used one, worked for a few days and started doing it again, maybe I got unlucky? I'll try to get both boards inspected at work since I work with electronics

Thank you very much to both of you
